The owners of this noted commercial office complex sought a refresh for a 70’s era development that had become less relevant over the decades. In re-envisioning the property, they realized a renovation of the landscape – rather than a much costlier building renovation – would solve many of the problems associated with wayfinding, outdoor amenities, and image. Using materials that blended with the buildings’ heritage, such as oxidized weathering steel, board-form concrete and geometric wood benches, the property was gently brought up to date while maintaining its late mid-century spirit.  In collaboration with Debra Nichols Design, a comprehensive wayfinding program improved signage and utilized the property’s iconic address to create a signature entry gateway and demarcate the center of the property.  In addition to materials improvements throughout, the heart of the project was transformed from a car-focused entry drive to a much safer, stone-paved pedestrian plaza.
